Legislation

Introduction

The legislation aims to allow the Independent Operator to utilise generic pass-through devices that meet both the ISO 22900 and SAE J2534-2 standards. It does not allow the vehicle manufacturer to recommend vehicle communication interface devices. Device vendors can request the vehicle manufacturer to trial their device against the vehicle manufacturer's software and vehicle manufacturer's vehicles.

McLaren J2534 Flash Programming

McLaren has created an application to enable Independent Operators to perform pass-through flash programming of supported control modules utilising a Windows compatible PC or laptop and J2534 pass-through device. The installation package is downloaded from this website and requires the Independent Operator to hold a valid subscription and an internet connection throughout the process. A list of validated J2534 pass-through devices are detailed below.

Validated J2534 Pass-through Devices

The list below contains those VCI's (Vehicle Communication Interfaces) and associated firmware releases that have been shown to work with the McLaren J2534 Flash Programming & Security application (the "VCI List").
